Internet Protocol Allocating Method in Inter-working Systems of Wireless Local Area Network and Universal Mobile Telecommunication

PURPOSE: A method for assigning an IP between a WLAN(Wireless LAN) and a UMTS(Universal Mobile Telecommunication System) is provided to use the same identifier in a WLAN packet network and a UMTS packet network, thereby controlling packet interface services through a WLAN and a 3GPP UTRAN as easily performing a hand-over process. CONSTITUTION: A service subscriber transmits an 802.11 association request and an 802.11 association response by using a dual mode/dual band MS(Mobile Station)(100)(S401,S402). A subscriber authentication process is carried out for an AAA server(403) and a service(S403). A DHCP discover message is transmitted to a GGSN(402)(S404). The GGSN(402) inquires of an HLR(405) about an IMSI(International Mobile Subscriber Identity) number included in a message to confirm whether the MS(100) is registered in a 3GPP UMTS system(S405). The HLR(405) responds to the inquiry(S406), and transmits a DHCP offer message to the MS(100) if the MS(100) is registered(S407). The MS(100) transmits a DHCP request message to the GGSN(402)(S408). If the MS(100) receives a service by using a UMTS network, the GGSN(402) loads an IP address of the MS(100) on a DHCP ACK message, and transmits the DHCP ACK message to the MS(100)(S409). The service subscriber consecutively uses a packet service(S410).
