BEARING ASSEMBLY AND TORQUE TUBE ASSEMBLY FOR GAS TURBINE ENGINE, TO IMPROVE LIFE SPAN OF BEARING

PURPOSE: A bearing assembly and a torque tube assembly for a gas turbine engine are provided to improve the performance and life span of the torque tube assembly and the gas turbine engine by improving the performance and life span of the bearing assembly. CONSTITUTION: In a bearing assembly for a gas turbine engine(28) for rotatably mounting a torque tube(50) in an access hole(24) extended through a fan duct(26) of the gas turbine engine, the torque tube connects a variable stator vane bell crank(30) situated in the fan duct to an operator situated to the outside of the fan duct. The bearing assembly includes a bearing(60) mounted on the torque tube, with a spheric outer combining surface(62), and a housing(70) having a flange mounted on the fan duct near the access hole and an annular inner surface(72) having an inner edge and an outer edge. As the inner surface has a shape and size for rotatably receiving the spheric outer combining surface of the bearing, the spheric outer combining surface and the annular inner surface come in contact with each other along an annular contact area centered on a contact plane formed between the inner edge and outer edge of the inner surface, and the contact surface is inclined at an angle greater than 5 degrees from the flange.
