PURPOSE: A self-diagnosis method of a fusing device and a device thereof are provided to inform an abnormality to a user by automatically diagnosing the abnormality of components in a protecting circuit of the fusing device. CONSTITUTION: A presumed temperature of a fusing device is calculated corresponding to the length of the continuous section of a fusing device lamp. A temperature to be detected on the surface of the fusing device is calculated. The abnormality of a protection circuit in the fusing device is checked by comparing the presumed temperature and the surface temperature of the fusing device. Thereby, the quality problems by the overheating of the fusing device are solved.
