POSITIONING SYSTEM AND METHOD OF CLIENT TERMINAL FOR PROVIDING POSITION-BASED SERVICE TO MOBILE TERMINAL, CONCERNED WITH PREVENTING MOBILE COMMUNICATION NETWORK FROM WASTING RESOURCES

PURPOSE: A positioning system and method of a client terminal for providing a position-based service to a mobile terminal is provided to prevent waste of resources of a mobile communication network for positioning requesting/noticing traffic when a target mobile terminal is roaming in an area where a position-based service is not provided. CONSTITUTION: A requesting GMLC(Gateway Mobile Location Center)(2a) determines whether the positioning area of a target UE(6B), which is roaming in a network 'C', is in a service-coverage area of a client or not. If the positioning area of the target UE(6B) is in the service-coverage area, the requesting GMLC(2A) sends a positioning request message of the client terminal to a home GMLC(2B) so that the message can be checked for secrecy. When the message is checked, the home gateway(2B) sends the message to a visiting GMLC(2C) and then requests positioning information of the target UE(6B) from a serving node(3C). If the positioning area of the target UE(6B) is out of the service-coverage area, the requesting GMLC(2A) formalizes an error message and transmits the error message to a client terminal(1A).
