PURPOSE: A lock detecting sensor is provided to control parts and function of the component accurately by detecting the condition of the differential mechanism with the control logic of the vehicle. CONSTITUTION: A differential gear mechanism comprises a gear case(11) rotated and arranged in an outer housing to restrict a rotating shaft(A) and a gear chamber(13); a differential gear ring arranged in the gear chamber and composed of an input gear(17) and first and second output gears(23,25); a rotation restricting unit(37) restricting rotation of the first output gear to the gear case; an operating unit(57) for the rotation restricting unit actuating the rotation restricting unit corresponding to input(63) and having a member(49) axially moved between the first position and the second position. A sensor assembly has a sensor element arranged near the gear case, and a sensing unit generates first electricity output from the sensor element in placing the member in the first position and second electricity output from the sensor element in placing the member in the second position.
