PURPOSE: A video recording/reproducing device having a function for automatically deleting an error file is provided to decide whether user data is lost among program files, and to decide an error file, then to automatically delete the error file, thereby effectively obtaining a recording space of a recording device. CONSTITUTION: An HDD(Hard Disk Drive)(151) records user data and program files having video data which is encoded in predetermined format. A main controller(160) decides an error file among the recorded program files, and controls the HDD(151) to delete the decided error file. The main controller(160) includes an error decider(164). The error decider(164) decides whether the user data is lost among the program files, and decides the error file. The user data is information data on the program files, and includes one of title, freeze frame position information, time, length, and file name data.
