PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus are provided to allow for ease of diagnosis on the inspection of helicobacter pylori, while reducing the amount of radio isotope marked on urea. CONSTITUTION: A method comprises a step of performing an oral administration on an examinee with the urea marked with radio isotope C¬14; a step of collecting electrons and positive ion in an electrode by inducing an electrolytic dissociation from the carbon dioxide discharged from the examinee; and a step of measuring the output pulse resulted from the previous step. An apparatus comprises an external case(11), an anode wire(12), an insulator(13), a gas injection port(14), a pulse measuring unit(15), an inlet port(16) for the air exhaled from an examinee, a flow sensor(17) for controlling flow of ¬14CO2 gas, a gas evacuation port and a switch(18) for discharging gas from a detector, and a collector filter(19) for collecting the ¬14CO2 waste discharged from the gas evacuation port.
