MEDIUM ACCESS CONTROL METHOD FOR A SMART WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM, PARTICULARLY CONCERNED WITH EXTENDING HIGH SPEED SERVICE AVAILABLE AREA IN A CSMA/CA PROTOCOL-BASED WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
PURPOSE: A medium access control method for a smart wireless communication system is provided to minimize influence on a different BSS(Basic Service Set) in transmitting data through a smart antenna and an influence made by the different BSS in receiving data through the smart antenna. CONSTITUTION: When a frame to be transmitted is generated(1201), it is checked whether a radio channel is idle(1202). If a type of the transmission frame is not a data type(1204) before actual channel transmission, a transfer rate is set according to a type of a physical layer, namely, a type of a modem. If the type of the physical layer is IEEE 802.11b/11g, the transfer rate is set as 1 or 2Mbps(1206), whereas if the type of the physical layer is IEEE 802.11a, the transfer rate is set as 6, 12 or 24Mbps(1207). In the case that the type of the transmission frame is not the data type, an omni antenna is initiated(1208) and the frame is transmitted at the above-mentioned determined transfer rate(1209). If an ACK(Acknowledge) packet is received from a receiving system within a pre-set time(1210), it is determined that the frame has been successfully transmitted.
