PURPOSE: Provided is a method for synthesizing a nanocomposite powder based on TiC by using metallothermic reduction, which can more excellently and economically synthesize TiC, TiCN powder or TiC+Ni(Co,Al), TiCN+Ni(Co,Al) composite nanophase nanocomposite powder. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of (i) dissolving titanium chloride(TiCl4) and carbon chloride to form a mixture solution, (ii) introducing the mixture solution into sealed container containing magnesium(Mg) forging with maintaining inert atmosphere, (iii) extracting reduced, remaining liquefied Mg and magnesium chloride(MgCl2) from the container under vacuum, and (iv) recovering a synthesized TiC product from the sealed container(from which the liquefied Mg and MgCl2 are extracted under vacuum).
