PURPOSE: A method for managing data streams of a high-density optical disk is provided to record/manage navigation information which can identify a type of video data linked with play items, according to each play item. CONSTITUTION: Data streams such as movie video/audio data, still picture data are recorded as MPEG2 TSs(Transport Streams). Plural play items are included in a playlist for playing/controlling the data streams. The first and second play items(PlayItem 1,2) are linked with still picture/audio data blocks, respectively. The third play item(PlayItem 3) is linked with a movie video/audio data block. The fourth play item(PlayItem 4) is linked with a still picture/audio data block. Navigation information is included/recorded in each play item, or MS condition information is included/recorded within the playlist.
