PURPOSE: An internal insert of a cooling tower is provided to prevent an insert of a cooling tower from being contaminated by formation and accumulation of microorganisms. CONSTITUTION: Heated water is supplied to a counterflow cooling tower(1) by a pipe(2). A plurality of nozzles(3) uniformly distribute the water into the cooling tower. Water sprayed by the nozzles trickles on a cooling insert(6). The cooling insert is formed of a trickle lattice or block made of a plastic mixed with an additive acting as a biocide to avoid or delay biological contamination.
