PURPOSE: A shim for preventing squeal and an attachment structure thereby are provided to restrict rust in contacting water from wear of the rubber layer, and to prevent squeal for a long time by using the galvanized steel sheet. CONSTITUTION: A shim for preventing squeal is used for a disk brake having a disk rotor, a brake pad, a rear plate of the brake pad and a pressure member pressing the brake pad to the disk rotor, and inserted between the pressure member and the rear plate of the brake pad. The shim is composed of a galvanized steel sheet(1), and a rubber layer(2) attached to one side or more of the galvanized steel sheet. An adhesive layer is mounted on the other side of the galvanized steel sheet, or the rubber layers are mounted on both sides of the galvanized steel sheet.
