PAGING METHOD IN A MOBILE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM, CONCERNED WITH REDUCING AN AMOUNT OF DATA TRANSMITTED TO A MOBILE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM NETWORK

PURPOSE: A paging method in a mobile communication system is provided to obtain information on the second paging target base stations from a server if a paging process fails, and to multicast a paging command message to the second paging target base stations, thereby reducing an amount of data transmitted to a mobile communication system network. CONSTITUTION: When the first paging fails, an exchange device obtains multicast group information on candidate base stations for the second paging from a DHCP server(510). The exchange device performs a multicast paging process to the second paging target base stations(520). The exchange device confirms whether the second paging is successful(530). If not, the exchange device obtains multicast group information on candidate base stations for the third paging(540). The exchange device carries out a multicast paging process to the third paging target base stations(550), and confirms whether the third multicast paging is successful(560). If not, the exchange device processes a final paging failure(570).
