PURPOSE: An automatic monitoring device and a method for a cooling water system are provided to automatically measure and monitor corrosion, pitting corrosion, scale and deposition tendency, and pollution tendency caused by microorganisms at real-time. CONSTITUTION: A pitting corrosion measuring instrument(10) has an ammeter disposed between a carbon steel first test tube for moving cooling water through a pipe line(50) and an electrode formed artificially at the side of the first test tube and continuously measures the amount of fine electric currents at real time with. A scale and deposition tendency measuring instrument(20) continuously detects the temperature change in a heating surface at real time by the cooling water moving over the surface of a second test tube with inserting the second test tube embedding a heater of the constant heat flux in the pipe line connected with the first test tube and by installing a temperature sensor on the surface of the heater. A microorganism pollution measuring instrument(30) continuously measures pressure loss at real time between constant gaps of the pipes by a manometer connected to a third test tube of the constant pipe gap combined with the pipe line of the scale and deposition tendency measuring instrument. Data detected by each measuring instrument are automatically stored in a data recording unit(60) at real time.
