PURPOSE: A method for driving a gate line of a liquid crystal display device and a circuit for driving the same are provided to reduces the degree of asymmetry of positive voltage and the negative voltage. CONSTITUTION: A circuit for driving a gate line of a liquid crystal display device includes a first gate driving signal generation unit(100), a second gate driving signal generation unit(200), a switching unit(300) and a controller(400). The first gate driving signal generation unit(100) generates a first gate driving signal with a high level by receiving a gate enable signal and the comparison signal. The second gate driving signal generation unit(200) outputs the multi-gate driving signal having a first and a second high level by synthesizing the second gate driving signal and the first gate driving signal. The switching unit(300) is connected between the output terminal of the first gate driving signal generation unit(100) and the output terminal of the second gate driving signal generation unit(200). And, the controller(400) enables the second driving signal generation unit(200) while turning off the switching unit(300) and disables the second gate driving signal generation unit(200) so as to output the first gate driving signal.
