PURPOSE: An escrow payment gateway is provided to protect a transaction between a buyer and a seller by using a settlement tool offered from the escrow payment gateway as a service for protecting the non-meeting online payment. CONSTITUTION: The escrow payment gateway receives purchase information and settlement information for the goods of the seller from the buyer and stores the purchase information. The escrow payment gateway stores the approval for the settlement by transmitting the settlement information to an external settlement system, and informs the buyer of the information for the settlement approval. When the approval is received, the escrow payment gateway generates the settlement with the external settlement system. If repayment or cancellation is generated without a purchase approval, the buyer requests the repayment to the escrow payment gateway. If a credit card settlement is canceled by transferring purchase canceling information to a credit card company, the escrow payment gateway cancels or repays the purchase by receiving corresponding items.
