PURPOSE: A vibration actuator is provided to reduce power consumption by supplying current to only one electromagnet. CONSTITUTION: A vibration actuator is composed of a nonmagnetic base(18), an electromagnetic operating unit(40) fixed to the nonmagnetic base and having both magnetic poles, a vibrator(20), an elastic support unit(30) for elastically supporting the vibrator to the nonmagnetic base so that the vibrator moves to the electromagnetic operating unit, and a permanent magnet(52) fixed to the vibrator. The polarities of the magnetic poles are changed alternately by alternating current. The vibrator has a pair of poles(22b) facing the magnetic poles of the electromagnetic operating unit. The permanent magnet magnetizes the poles in the same polarity, and generates an attractive force between one magnetic pole and one pole of the vibrator and a repulsive force between the other magnetic pole and the other pole. The electromagnetic operating unit has an AC supply unit(50) for converting direct current into alternating current. A nonmagnetic case(10) has an airtight vibration chamber to which the nonmagnetic base, the electromagnetic operating unit and the vibrator are mounted.
