PURPOSE: To provide a method of preparing a molecular sieve adsorbent for a selective separation of air according to sizes and shapes thereof, by which prepared adsorbent is useful for separating nitrogen and argon from a mixture of nitrogen, argon and oxygen. CONSTITUTION: The method of preparing a molecular sieve adsorbent represented by the formula of (Na2O)6(Al2O3)6(SiO2)12+xwH2O, where x is 0.001 to 0.1 and w is a mol of water, comprises steps of (a) activating a zeolite A at a temperature range of 350 to 450 deg.C for 3-6 hours ; (b) cooling the activated zeolite A in a desiccator under a vacuum condition of 1x10¬-2 to 1x10¬-4mmHg; (c) treating the cooled zeolite with a tetra alkyl orthosilicate that is dissolved in a dry solvent selected from toluene, benzene, xylene or cyclohexane at a concentration of 0.1 to 1.0 wt.%/volume with continuously stirring; (d) recovering the solvent to reuse; (e) drying the treated zeolite at an ambient temperature of 20-35 deg.C under a static condition; (f) heating the modified zeolite at a temperature range of 450-600 deg.C for 3-8 hours; (g) cooling the zeolite at the ambient temperature under the static condition; and (h) after activating the zeolite at a temperature range of 350-450 deg.C, measuring adsorption of oxygen, nitrogen and argon by a static volume measurement system.
