PURPOSE: An apparatus for calculating expected arrival time and a method thereof are provided to calculate an accurate expected arrival time by considering traffic jam state on a road and traveling state of a vehicle by real time traveling information received from a vehicle mounted terminal. CONSTITUTION: According to the method, a target station to calculate an expected arrival time from a route map where station discrimination information and installation position are recorded is selected(S1300). A line number passing through the selected station and present position of vehicles traveling the corresponding line number are obtained(S1310). A remaining distance to the selected station is calculated on the basis of the present position of vehicles most adjacent to the selected station(S1330). The expected arrival time is calculated by the selected station and the most adjacent vehicles(S1340).
