PURPOSE: A section travel time calculation system and its method are provided to calculate a section travel time of a road accurately by traveling information received from a vehicle mounted terminal. CONSTITUTION: According to the method, traveling information per line is generated on the basis of information received from a vehicle mounted terminal. A link existing on a line is selected on the basis of the traveling information of each route line(S1310). Traveling time of each vehicle is calculated on the basis of information generation time and position information as to a vehicle traveling the selected link within the closest time to a section travel time calculation time. And a section travel time of the selected link is calculated by averaging traveling times of the vehicles traveling the selected link during the same time zone(S1320).
