PURPOSE: An apparatus for notifying state information of a terminal receiver by using an SMS, and a method thereof are provided to notify a state of a receiver to a sender by an SMS message, thereby preventing a noise in public places and unnecessary telephone calls. CONSTITUTION: If a sender calls a receiver terminal, the receiver terminal receives the call(301). The receiver terminal judges whether a current mode of the receiver terminal is a business mode in accordance with state information of a receiver(302). If not, the receiver terminal notifies the call to the receiver(303). The receiver talks over with the sender(304). After terminating the telephone call conversation, the receiver terminal stores information of a sender terminal(305), and then enters a standby state(311). If the receiver terminal is in the business mode, the receiver terminal stores information of the sender terminal in a recent call list of the receiver terminal(306). It is judged whether the current state of the receiver is to be transmitted to the sender terminal by an SMS(Short Message Service) message(307). If not, the current state of the receiver is notified by a voice message(310). If so, a predetermined message is formatted(308). And then, the corresponding message is transmitted to the sender terminal(309).
