METHOD FOR DESIGNING A SERIES OF COMPRESSORS FOR TWO-STAGE CENTRIFUGAL CHILLER

PURPOSE: A method for designing a series of compressors for two-stage centrifugal chiller is provided to ensure the same efficiency and performance to the compressors regardless of refrigerator capacity. CONSTITUTION: Compressors having a predetermined capacity are classified into at least two groups according to capacities. An impeller has a hydro-mechanical design by using non-dimensional variables. A value for designing the first stage impeller of a lower group is used as a value for designing the second impeller of an upper group. In a predetermined group, if the ratio of the maximum refrigerator capacity and the minimum refrigerator capacity is greater than the ratio of the chiller capacity of the group, the ratio is divided by the range of desired capacity. The maximum value and the minimum value of the desired capacity are modified by using the ratio.
