PURPOSE: Provided are an Ephedra sinica Stapf extract showing a good therapeutic effect on rheumatoid arthritis and a pharmaceutical composition containing the same as an active ingredient. The extract is obtained by extracting Ephedra sinica Stapf with hot water or organic solvent, and suppresses pathological symptoms of rheumatoid through molecular biological mechanism. CONSTITUTION: The pharmaceutical composition for treatment of rheumatoid is characterized by containing as an active ingredient, the extract of Ephedra sinica Stapf, wherein the extract is obtained by mixing Ephedra sinica Stapf with distilled water, followed by heating and distillation, and filtration and double-boiling.
