PURPOSE: A method for retrieving a channelizing code by using pilot patterns is provided to self-retrieve a channelizing code by using pilot bit patterns of a channel transmitted by a base station, thereby quickly perceiving an operated state of the base station through only the realization of a physical layer without an additional call processing. CONSTITUTION: A system selects an OVSF(Orthogonal Variable Spreading Factor) code for performing a despreading process according to a predetermined OVSF code selection rule(S601), and carries out the despreading process for a signal transmitted from a base station by using the selected OVSF code(S602). The system compares pilot bit patterns of symbols obtained through the despreading with pilot bit patterns prestored on a table(S603). If identical pilot bit patterns exist(S604), the system decides the selected OVSF code as being assigned by the substantial base station(S605).
