RADIO NETWORK CONTROLLER SUPPORTING A POINT-TO-MULTIPOINT SERVICE BY USING A SHARED CHANNEL, PARTICULARLY HAVING A SCHEDULING MECHANISM WITH AN INPUT TO RECEIVE POINT-TO-MULTIPOINT AND POINT-TO-POINT SERVICE DATA FOR PERFORMING POINT-TO-MULTIPONT AND POINT-TO-POINT SERVICE TRANSMISSION SCHEDULING
PURPOSE: An RNC(Radio Network Controller) supporting a PtM(Point-to-Multipoint) service by using a shared channel is provided to overcome a problem that a large amount of expensive radio resources is used in a DSCH(Downlink Shared CHannel) for transmission to multiple users. CONSTITUTION: Each of DDCC(Downlink Dedicated Control CHannel) generators(241-24n) generates a control channel signal for UEs(121-12n). A multi-point synchronization unit(25) synchronizes allocation of DSCH with respect to a user group for receiving a common PtM service through the DDCC of a user. A DSCH generator(26) generates a shared channel signal to be transmitted through an air interface(22). The shared channel signal is received by a UE(12j) by using an antenna(34) or an antenna array. Information of the shared channel is restored by using dedicated control channel information by a DSCH receiver(38). A shared channel measurement unit(40) obtains information of a channel quality measurement/downlink dedicated channel and/or information on the shared channel. A measurement receiver(30) restores a measured channel from every user of a specific channel. A power control unit(28) uses channel measurement/information in order to determine a power level for the shared channel. A transmit diversity unit(29) can use phase shifting and amplitude information in order to determine beam forming with respect to the shared channel. A scheduling mechanism has an input constructed to receive PtM and PIP(Ppoint-to-Point) service data and performs transmission scheduling of the PtM and PtP service in a shared channel. A signal unit is coupled to the scheduling mechanism and generates a signal indicating the scheduled PtM and PtP transmission in the shared channel, for a user.
