PURPOSE: To provide a roll for roll forming in which physical properties and reprocessing characteristics of products are prevented from being deteriorated as a specific part of roll formed sheet material is severely strain hardened compared with other parts, and a roll forming method using the roll for roll forming. CONSTITUTION: In a roll comprising a shaft connection part (111) for connecting a rotary shaft and having a circular cross section to roll form the sheet material by press forming a sheet material passing through between two rolls, the roll for roll forming comprises pressing parts (113) installed circumferentially on the outer circumferential surface of the roll and arranged at left and right sides with being spaced apart from each other in a certain distance to dividingly press the sheet material passing through the rolls; and non-pressing parts (115) arranged between the pressing parts so that the sheet material passing through the rolls is not partially pressed, wherein the pressing parts and the non-pressing parts are symmetrically arranged side to side, wherein the non-pressing parts are from in a groove shape, and non-contact length of the rolls and the sheet material by the non-pressing parts is less than 60% of effective length of the rolls and 10% or more of width of the sheet material, and wherein the pressing parts and the non-pressing parts are alternately formed side to side in a plural numbers.
