PURPOSE: An STC(Space-Time Coding) system in a mobile communication system is provided to increase a correlation between bit strings transmitted by multiple antennas, while performing a maximum antenna diversity by using the multiple antennas, thereby transmitting data without an error and exactly restoring data received by the antenna diversity. CONSTITUTION: A mapper(400) generates bits as K symbols, and displays the K symbols. The K symbols outputted from the mapper(400) are inputted to a non-binary coder(402). A coding rate of the non-binary coder(402) is determined in consideration of a transmission rate of an STC transmitter. The non-binary coder(402) inputs the K symbols, converts the inputted K symbols into N non-binary coding symbols, and outputs the N non-binary coding symbols to a demapper(404). The demapper(404) converts the N non-binary symbols into binary bits again, and outputs the binary bits to a distributor(406).
