PURPOSE: A method for deciding a telephone line failure of a burglar-proof terminal by using a telephone line is provided to exactly find out a telephone line failure during a call, and to use an optical element, thereby reducing time for deciding whether a telephone line fails while deciding the telephone line failure with minimal power consumption. CONSTITUTION: A microcomputer transmits a test input signal through an optical transmission route. The test input signal is changed into a conversion signal, and is transmitted to a terminal telephone line through an optical receiving route. If a telephone line of a burglar-proof terminal is normally operated, the signal is reversely transmitted through the second optical transmission route. The signal is inputted to the microcomputer via the second optical receiving route. The microcomputer decides a value of the inputted signal, and decides whether the telephone line is normal. If the signal is not transmitted via the second optical transmission route, the microcomputer recognizes a telephone line failure.
