PURPOSE: A gas engine is provided to reduce the cost for equipments by using the mold for the diesel engine without modifying the combustion chamber, to improve thermal efficiency by burning stably with reduction of initial combustion period, and to restrict harmful gas by preventing incomplete combustion. CONSTITUTION: A gas engine is composed of a cylinder head(3) in which a pre-combustion chamber(1) is placed eccentrically, and a cylinder(9) having a piston(8) in which a post-combustion chamber(11) is recessed in the upper part and communicated with the pre-combustion chamber through a connecting opening part(13) formed in the lower part of the pre-combustion chamber. Flames are transferred from the pre-combustion chamber to the post-combustion chamber. The opening area of the connecting opening part is expanded by inclining the cylinder head or the edge of the cylinder.
