A DNA marker for Phytophthora infestans in Potato and Tomato

PURPOSE: A DNA marker for detecting Phytophthora infestans in potato and tomato is provided, thereby specifically detecting a small amount of Phytophthora infestans DNA and diagnosing the infection of Phytophthora infestans in potato and tomato at any time. CONSTITUTION: The DNA marker for Phytophthora infestans in potato and tomato comprises a pair of primer consisting of ITS-3 having the nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1 and PISP-1 having the nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO: 3. The DNA marker for Phytophthora infestans in potato and tomato is produced by extracting genomic DNA of Phytophthora sp.; amplifying the internal transcribed spacer(ITS) II region using primers ITS3 and ITS4; cloning the amplified products into pGEM-T easy vector; preparing a primer PISP-1; and linking the primers PISP-1 and ITS3.
