PURPOSE: Provided are a composition for the treatment and prevention of cancer, containing Angelica Koreana MAX extract or compound obtained therefrom and a separating method of the extract or the compound, therefore the cancer including cutaneous cancer, stomach cancer, colic cancer and breast cancer can be effectively treated and prevented. CONSTITUTION: The composition inhibiting xanthine, xanthine oxidase, ornithine decarboxylase, nitric oxide synthase or inducing quinone reductase contains Angelica Koreana MAX extract as an effective component, in which the Angelica Koreana MAX extract is prepared by extracting Angelica Koreana MAX with methanol and extracting or fractioning the methanol extract with organic solvent; and the effective amount of the Angelica Koreana MAX extract is 0.01-10g/kg/day.
