PURPOSE: A red fluorescent substance for the fluorescent display, its preparation method, a fluorescent device containing the substance and a photoluminescence liquid crystal display are provided, to prevent the destruction of a fluorescent substance due to the electron irradiation and to improve the luminance and the definition. CONSTITUTION: The red fluorescent substance has a layered perovskite structure and is represented by Ba(La(1-x)Eux)2M3O10, wherein 0.01x0.5; and M is Ti, Zr or Hf. Preferably M is Zr of Hf in the case that the substance is used for the field emission display (FED), and M is Ti in the case that the substance is used for the photoluminescence liquid crystal display (PLLCD) activating a fluorescent substance by using a blue light as backlight. The method comprises the steps of (10) uniformly mixing barium carbonate (BaCO3), lanthanum oxide (La2O3), four-valent metal oxide (MO2, wherein M is a four-valent metal) and europium oxide (Eu2O3) in a solvent; and (20) heating the mixture. Preferably the four-valent metal oxide is selected from the group consisting of TiO2, ZrO2 and HfO2, and the heating is carried out at a temperature of 1,000-1,300 deg.C.
