The present invention relates to a biaxially oriented polypropylene film. The base layer of the film contains polypropylene produced by a metallocene catalyst. The polypropylene is characterized in that the average isotactic block length is greater than 40, the n-heptane soluble portion is less than 1%, and the ratio of the weight average molecular weight M _w to the number average molecular weight M _n is less than 4.
