PURPOSE: A method for integrating demands and setting an optical path having restricted hop counts in an optical wavelength division multiplexing ring communication network is provided to integrate demands with a replaced path in consideration of the number of photoelectric conversion times during demand integrating process used to minimize the number of optical wavelengths, thereby solving transmission delay. CONSTITUTION: A demand integration process(100-160) is performed as follows. When assigning optical wavelengths to process optical transmission demands given between nodes configuring a communication network, amounts of optical transmission demands for optical wavelengths showing a minimum using rate are integrated to optical wavelengths of other replacing path. The demands are integrated until the number of photoelectric conversion times satisfies a hop count range set in each commodity. An optical wavelength path setting process is performed as follows. After arranging all optical path demands to have the same direction for each commodity between determined nodes, the number of maximum optical wavelengths assigned in a clockwise direction is compared with the number of maximum optical wavelengths assigned in a counter-clockwise direction on the basis of start nodes of the commodities. Amounts of the demands are rearranged to have load balance.
