PURPOSE: An apparatus is provided to obtain measurement data with high accuracy, by measuring both in-plane stiffness and out-plane stiffness. CONSTITUTION: A load apply unit which is installed on a base and moves forward and backward through a transfer unit of a motor operating by a control unit, applies load to a sample fixed to a sample fixing unit(6) so as to test stiffness of the sample. The sample fixing unit includes a base plate(8), left and right jigs(9a,9b) and an upper jig(10) acting to the base plate. Left and right jigs and the upper jig are controlled in a free manner by lead screw type adjustment bolts(11) arranged at left and right jigs and upper jig, respectively. The control unit detects the load detected by the load apply unit, and transfers load signal to the motor, to thereby control the tension load to be applied to the sample constant.
