PURPOSE: Provided is a method for producing olefin polymers and copolymers having a broad molecular weight distribution and high apparent density by using a catalyst having high catalytic activity and a controlled shape of catalyst particles. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises polymerizing or copolymerizing olefins in the presence of a catalytic system comprising (a) a solid complex titanium catalyst comprising magnesium, titanium, halogen and an internal electron donor, (b) an organometallic compound and (c) an external electron donor. In the method, the solid complex titanium catalyst is obtained by the method comprising the steps of: (i) dissolving a magnesium compound in a mixed solvent of a cyclic ether and alcohol to form a magnesium-containing solution; (ii) reacting the magnesium-containing solution with a transition metal compound to precipitate solid particles; and (iii) reacting the precipitated solid particles with a titanium compound and an internal electron donor. The external electron donor (c) is vinyl triethoxysilane combined with dicyclopentyl dimethoxysilane.
