PURPOSE: To provide a semipermeable membrane having high clearance of low molecular weight urinal toxins and medium molecular weight proteins such as β2-MG, a semipermeable membrane capable of simultaneously accomplishing a low albumin permeability, in particular =3%, and a high mass transfer coefficient Ko, and a hemodialyzer capable of simultaneously achieving an albumin permeability of 3%, a DB1 of =135 ml/min and a urea of =191 ml/min (each per membrane area of 1.3 m¬2), and a reduction ratio of β2-MG of =60%. CONSTITUTION: The module for the treatment of blood for removing undesired materials from the blood comprises a housing which includes at least a dialysate inlet for flowing dialysate into the housing, and a hollow fiber membrane which is installed inside the housing and has an inner circumferential part defining a blood flow conduit and an outer circumferential part for contact with the dialysate in the housing, wherein the hollow fiber membrane is capable of allowing selective pass of the undesired materials from the inner circumferential part to the outer circumferential part so that during passing time of the blood through the blood flow conduit, the undesired materials in the blood pass across the membrane into the dialysate, and the hollow fiber membrane is characterized by (i) an albumin permeability of 0.5% or less; (ii) an urea clearance of 195 ml/min or more per membrane area of 1.6 m¬2; (iii) an phosphorus clearance of 180 ml/min or more per membrane area of 1.6 m¬2; and (iv) a β2-microglobulin clearance of 44 ml/min or more per membrane area of 1.8 m¬2.
