PURPOSE: A device for automatically detecting a data rate of asynchronous communication is provided to detect a data rate through data having periodical patterns under multi-communication environment, thereby reducing unnecessary communication traffic. CONSTITUTION: A variable clock(10) changes a clock by a variable/fixing signal, and outputs the changed clock. An idle state checker(20) inputs the clock, and checks whether data loaded into a data receiving signal line is idle, then outputs a synchronous active signal. A synchronizer(30) operates when the synchronous active signal is inputted, and outputs a synchronous signal. A data counter(40) operates with the synchronous signal, and increases a data count value according to the clock, then outputs a parity active signal and a comparison active signal. A parity generator(50) outputs a parity value operating a sampled bit of data when the parity active signal is inputted. A comparator(60) compares a sample value of the data with the parity value, and decides whether a next sample is a stop bit, then outputs the variable/fixing signal. A data rate fixer(70) determines a data rate according to the variable/fixing signal. A data receiver(80) receives the data by the data count value.
