PURPOSE: Provided is a method for producing sulfonated polysulfone for cation exchange membrane which is physically and chemically stabilized and has low methanol permeability. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of (a) causing reaction between chlorosulfonic acid and trimethylchlorosilane at a temperature between -30 to 50C while mixing the chlorosulfonic acid and trimethylchlorosilane with a mixing ratio of 1 mole : 0.1 to 10 mole, thereby producing complex sulfonation agent expressed as chemical formula 1, (b) dissolving polysulfone expressed as chemical formula 2 into a solvent, (c) adding triethylamine to the polysulfone solution with a ratio of 1:0.2 to 15, and (d) mixing the complex sulfonation agent of the step (a) and the polysulfone of the step (c) at a temperature in a range of -25 to 50 C to cause reaction therebetween, wherein the solvent is hydrocarbon halide selected from the group consisting of dichloroethane, trichloroethane and tetrachloroethane.
