SMALL PIEZOELECTRIC OR ELECTROSTRICTIVE ULTRASONIC LINEAR MOTOR INCLUDING MOVING BODY MOVING ALONG AXIAL DIRECTION OF MOVING SHAFT IN CASE WHERE INERTIA OF MOVING BODY IS LARGER THAN FRICTIONAL FORCE OF MOVING BODY AND MOVING SHAFT
PURPOSE: A small piezoelectric or electrostrictive ultrasonic linear motor is provided to reduce manufacturing procedures and achieve improved characteristics and operating reliability. CONSTITUTION: A method for driving a small piezoelectric or electrostrictive ultrasonic linear motor comprises a first step of applying a voltage changing from a first voltage to a second voltage to the electrodes arranged at both sides of a piezoelectric substrate or an electrostrictive substrate, for a first time period; and a second step of applying a voltage changing from the second voltage to the first voltage to the electrodes arranged at both sides of the piezoelectric or electrostrictive substrate. In the first or second step, a moving body moves along an axial direction of a moving shaft in case where inertia of the moving body is larger than the frictional force of the moving body and the moving shaft which vibrate in accordance with a displacement of the piezoelectric substrate or the electrostrictive substrate.
