PURPOSE: A method for detecting the gene-specific oxidative DNA damage by using 8-hydroxyguanine glycosylase is provided, it can be useful for diagnosis of diseases caused by the oxidative DNA damage. CONSTITUTION: The method for detecting the gene-specific oxidative DNA damage by using 8-hydroxyguanine glycosylase comprises the steps of: collecting DNAs from the blood of a patient and in vitro cultured cells; individually preparing the 8-hydroxyguanine glycosylase pretreated or untreated DNA groups; independently PCR amplifying the 8-hydroxyguanine glycosylase pretreated or untreated DNA groups; and comparing the density of PCR products, wherein the gene is selected from P53, BAX, IGFIIR and TGFβ RII. A method for diagnosis of infection by Helicobacter pylori uses the method for detecting the gene-specific oxidative DNA damage by using 8-hydroxyguanine glycosylase.
