PURPOSE: A short range data communication apparatus is provided to achieve improved accuracy of data communication by performing data communication through the use of a reflective relay. CONSTITUTION: A short range data communication apparatus comprises a plurality of reflective transmitters/receivers for transmitting/receiving data through the use of a parabolic infrared antenna; and a relay for propagating signals input from the reflective transmitters/receivers to a desired reflective transmitter/receiver. Each of the reflective transmitter/receivers includes a first pin photodiode(14) for taking, as an input, optical signals incident in a parabolic shape; a first pre-amplifier(13) for amplifying signals output from the first pin photodiode; a first arithmetic amplifier(3) for receiving signals from the first pre-amplifier, amplifying the received signals to a level higher than a reference voltage(Vref), and outputting the amplified signal; a first decoder(4) for converting the amplified optical signal(RxD) output from the first arithmetic amplifier into an electrical signal(RXD); a first modem(5) for receiving and transmitting the electrical signal output from the first decoder; a first micro processor(6) for receiving the signal from the first modem, controlling an interface with an external device, inputting/outputting data, and controlling data transmission; an interface unit(8) for controlling an interface between the first micro processor and an external device, receiving power from a power source(9), and supplying power; a first encoder(11) for converting the electrical signal(TXD) output from the first modem into an optical signal(TxD) in accordance with the control of the first micro processor; and a first transmitting unit(12) for transmitting the optical signal(TxD) output from the first encoder.
