NEW ANTIMICROBIAL COMPOUND HAVING WATER REPELLENCY DIFFERENT FROM CONVENTIONAL ANTIMICROBIAL AGENTS OR COMPOUNDS AND BROAD SPECTRUM OF ANTIMICROBIAL PROPERTIES

PURPOSE: An antimicrobial compound having a structure in which at least one monovalent or divalent metal selected from silver, copper, zinc, magnesium, calcium, sodium and potassium is substituted to provide antimicrobial properties in a reactive portion of reactive polysiloxane is provided. The compound has water repellency different from conventional antimicrobial agents or compounds and a broad spectrum of antimicrobial properties. CONSTITUTION: The new antimicrobial compound is a metal substituted polysiloxane compound having the formula(1) or (2), wherein M is a substituted metal, n is a polymerization degree of 1 to 500. The substituted metal is a monovalent metal selected from silver, sodium and potassium or a divalent metal selected from copper, zinc, magnesium and calcium.
