A multimedia materials service method using code image attached to book and so on and apparatus thereof

PURPOSE: A multimedia data service system and method is provided to offer a book or a document to a user and enable the user to receive various multimedia data services according to data embedded in a code image printed in a book or a document. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of enabling a user to input a code image expressed in a book by using an image processing device(61), enabling the user to directly decode the image code and extract data from the decoded data in the case that a decoding program is stored in a user terminal(62,64), enabling the user transmit the code image to a server and decode the image in the server in the case that the decoding program is not stored in the user terminal(63), determining if the extracted data is a code information or an index information(65), setting a network address based on the code information in the case that the extracted data is the code information(66), searching a network address from a code management database and setting the network address in the case that the extracted data is the index information(67,68), and enabling the user to access the corresponding network and receive the corresponding contents. The code image can be printed on other objects, e.g. a product, enables a consumer to access a web site and receive detailed user manual or repair guide information.
