PURPOSE: A method for designing a filter using a genetic algorithm is provided to obtain an optimum area and thickness appropriate for a filter design condition. CONSTITUTION: According to the method, an ideal serial and parallel resonant frequency is obtained by measuring an impedance after fabricating a resonator. A material characteristic constant indicating an optimum serial and parallel resonant frequency is obtained through a genetic algorithm using a number of material characteristic constants. A filter structure is selected using the resonator having the material characteristic constant. A thickness of the resonator in which a resonant frequency of the serial and parallel resonator coincides with a center frequency is obtained through the genetic algorithm. Then, the thickness and the area of the resonator satisfying the filter design condition are obtained through the genetic algorithm.
