PURPOSE: A protection apparatus is provided to simplify the circuit configuration and reduce space for installation, by performing a micro surge suppression function and a regeneration braking function through a single configuration. CONSTITUTION: A protection apparatus comprises a regeneration braking unit(101) and a micro surge filter unit(102) formed integrally with each other. The regeneration braking unit is interposed between an inverter(30) and a motor(40) of a motor control system, and detects the voltage output from the inverter and controls the detected voltage by comparing the detected voltage with a reference voltage. The regeneration braking unit absorbs and removes the regenerated energy from the motor when the voltage output from the inverter rises by the regenerated voltage from the motor. The micro surge filter unit is interposed between the inverter and the motor. The micro surge filter unit suppresses micro surge voltage supplied to the motor, by maintaining an internal charge energy at the level lower than the reference value of the output DC voltage of the inverter.
