FIELD: power engineering; double-circuit nuclear power stations incorporating pressurized water reactor and steam-generating plant. SUBSTANCE: operating process of steam generator divided into several separate circulating loops includes coolant circulation over loop communicating with horizontal tube bank through main circulating pump, feedwater supply to tube space, steam discharge, continuous blowdown including blowdown water discharge and periodic blowdown for slime removal made during shutdown of power unit with loops being disconnected in succession; in the process blowdown water is discharged from steam generator of disconnected loop upon equalizing coolant temperature at steam-generator inlet and outlet in maximal slime accumulation zone located in bottom part of steam generator near coolant outlet.
