The bearing blocks (1) may be set in sockets and may be arranged in a ring surrounding the bottom of the trunk of the tree. There is a pivot pin (2) at the top of each bearing block, holding the bottom end of a swinging clamp lever (3) with a sharp corner (5) which may grip the trunk of the tree. There is a hole for a guide member (4) in each clamp lever and two pins (13,14) against which the top arm (8) of the spring (6) may bear. The spring makes one or more loops (7) round the pivot pin and its lower portion engages with a pin (12) on the bearing block.
