The method for detecting the direction of origin of sound requires at least two microphones (1,2) with a given spacing (4) from one another and arranged on one axis (3) and used for one or more spectral components of the output signals from the microphones (1,2) to determine the phase differences (12) of the output signal of the two microphones (1,2) and from these phase differences (12) is generated a signal (14) proportional to the angle (34) between the perpendiculars (33) of the axis (3) and the path to the measured object (32).
