In particular in a small vehicle the fuel tank (1) cannot be positioned at a substantial distance from other components causing a dangerous situation in case of impact. The new design of a fuel tank (1) is partly enveloped by the coolant reservoir (2) serving as a shock absorbing element. An insulating material (7) is inserted into the gap (6) between both devices (1, 2). The safety of the driver and the passengers is not affected when cooling fluid is spilled in case of an accident.
